Tonight was absinthe night #1. An interesting process: drop a sugar cube in the absinthe, pick it out with a fork; lay the fork across the top of the glass, put the absinthe-drenched sugar cube on top of it; light the sugarcube on fire; wait for the fire to go out, begin spraying the sugar cube with water (bottle with a hole punched in the top); after the sugarcube dissolves, keep spraying the side of the glass until it is full with 85% liquid; drink, preferably slowly, though this is optional.
It tasted like black liquorice distilled with some sort of hard, rough alcohol. Two drinks in and I was set. What a Tuesday.
